Product Details

JARDIANCE 10MG TAB is an antidiabetic medicine used alone or in a combination with other medicines to treat Type II diabetes in adult patients. This medicine is also used to lower the risk of cardiovascular death in adult patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus. Patients are advised to follow a strict diet and exercise regimen along with this medicine to achieve the best possible effect.

 

Indications:

  • Type II Diabetes Mellitus
  • Cardiovascular risk reduction

Dosage:

  • 10 mg PO qDay, may increase to 25 mg/day if needed and tolerated.

Onset of Action: The amount of time required for this medicine to show its action is not clinically established.

Duration of Action: The amount of time for which this medicine remains active in the body is not clinically established.

 

Side effects:

  • Bladder pain
  • Bloody or cloudy urine
  • Difficult or painful urination
  • Lower back pain
  • Blurred vision
  • Confusion
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Headache
  • Sweating
  • Unusual tiredness or weakness
  • Nausea and vomiting

Interactions:

  1. Interaction with Medicines: Severe to moderate interaction with Acetazolamide, Amlodipine, Chlorthalidone, Carvedilol, Gatifloxacin.
  2. Interaction with Diseases:
    Renal Dysfunction: This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from kidney diseases due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of kidney function tests is necessary while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
    > Hyperlipidemia: This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from hyperlipidemia since it may increase the blood levels of LDL cholesterol. Regular monitoring of lipid levels is recommended during treatment with this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
    Hypotension: This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from hypotension (low blood pressure levels) due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. You may require a dose adjustment and more frequent clinical monitoring to safely use this medicine. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Contraindications:

Warnings:

  • Genital mycotic infections: This medicine should be used with caution in patients with genital mycotic infections due to the increased risk of worsening of the condition.   • Ketoacidosis: This medicine should be used with extreme caution since it may increase the risk of ketoacidosis. Report any symptoms such as difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, unusual tiredness, etc. to the doctor immediately. You may require a dose adjustment and more frequent clinical monitoring to safely use this medicine. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition.
  • Urosepsis: This medicine should be used with caution in patients with urinary tract infections due to the increased risk of worsening of the condition. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition of the patient.
  • Hypoglycemia (low blood glucose levels): This medicine may cause hypoglycemia (low blood glucose levels) on concomitant use with insulin and insulin secretagogues in some patients. This risk is especially higher in patients suffering from kidney diseases, malnourishment, pituitary gland diseases, etc. Close monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended for such patients. 
  • Pregnancy:This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.
  • Lactation: This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. 
  • Safety with alcohol: Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with this medicine due to the increased risk of both low as well as high blood glucose levels.
