Product Details

HYBRO 20mg tablet is used to relieve cramps associated with the stomach and intestines (gastrointestinal tract) and the genitourinary tract. It is also used alone or in a combination with other medicines to treat symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, indigestion, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, etc. associated with irritable bowel syndrome.

 

Indications:

  • Accomplishment of cycloplegia and mydriasis for diagnostic procedures and for preoperative and postoperative states in treatment of iridocyclitis (ophthalmic use).
  • Prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness (transdermal).
  • Preanesthetic sedation and obstetric amnesia in conjunction with analgesics and to calm delirium (parenteral).

 

Dosage:

  1. Ophthalmic: ADULTS: 1 to 2 drops of 1% solution into eye 1 hr prior to refraction; or 1 to 2 drops up to qid for uveitis. CHILDREN: 1 to 2 gtt of 0.5% solution into eye 1 hr prior to refraction; or 1 to 2 drops of 0.5% solution up to tid for uveitis.
  2. Parenteral: ADULTS: IM/SC/IV 0.32 to 0.65 mg. CHILDREN: 0.006 mg/kg (maximum 0.3 mg).
  3. Transdermal: ADULTS: One transdermal patch placed behind ear 4 hr prior to event. Wear only 1 patch at a time. Approximately 1 mg will be delivered over 3 days.
  4. Oral: 10-20 mg 3-4 times a day.

 

Onset of Action: Not clinically established, usually 30 minutes to one hour.

Duration of action: Not clinically established.

 

Side Effects

• Irregular heart rate
• Dry mouth
• Visual disturbances
• Difficulty in passing urine
• Dizziness
• Decreased blood pressure
• Diarrhea

 

Interactions:

  1. Interactions with Disease: The medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a history of any intestinal obstruction. This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease.
  2. Interactions with Food: No interactions with food is available.

 

Contraindications:

  • The drug is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to hyoscine or any other inactive ingredients present along with it. 
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Acute narrow-angle glaucoma
  • Mechanical bowel obstruction
  • Megacolon
  • Paralytic or obstructive ileus

Warnings:

  • Anticoagulant therapy: It is not given via the intramuscular route in patients being treated with anticoagulant drugs (blood thinners) due to the increased risk of intramuscular hematoma. In these patients, the subcutaneous or intravenous routes may be preferred.
  • Driving or operating machines: Use of this medicine may cause symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, etc. in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.
  • Prostatic enlargement: This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from an enlarged prostate due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects. Report any unusual symptoms or worsening of condition to the doctor immediately. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.
  • Use in children: This medicine should be used with extreme caution in children and only under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
  • Pregnancy: This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless absolutely necessary.
  • Breast-feeding: It is also recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary.
  • Safe with alcohol, interaction with alcohol is unknown.

General Instructions:

  • Take this medicine exactly as instructed by the doctor.
  • Do not take in larger or smaller amounts than prescribed.
  • Seek emergency medical treatment in case of any severe side effects.
  • Ensure that the course of treatment is completed.
  • Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.
