Product Details

FARIN 5mg Tab is an anticoagulant which is used to prevent the blood from clotting. 

 

Indications :

  • Deep Vein Thrombosis
  • Pulmonary Embolism
  • Prophylaxis for Myocardial Infarction
  • Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation

Dosage:

  1. Reduction in the risk of death, another heart attack, or stroke: ADULT: Based on prothrombin time (PT)/international normalized ratio (INR) blood test. The typical starting dose is 5 mg to 10 mg once per day.
  2. Prevention and treatment of clots with atrial fibrillation or heart valve replacement: ADULT: Based on your prothrombin time (PT)/international normalized ratio (INR) blood test. The typical starting dose is 5 mg to 10 mg once per day.
  3. Prevention and treatment of clots in the lower body and in the lungs: ADULT: Based on your prothrombin time (PT)/international normalized ratio (INR) blood test. The typical starting dose is 5 mg to 10 mg once per day.

 

Onset of Action: 36 to 48 hours.

Duration of Action: 2 to 5 days.

 

Side Effects:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Blurred vision
  • Blood in urine and stools
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Diarrhea
  • Skin rash and itching
  • Yellow colored eyes or skin

Interactions:

  1. Interaction with Medicines: Severe interactions with aspirin and fluroquinolone antibiotics. Moderate interaction with proton pump inhibitors and ethinyl estradiol.
  2. Interaction with Diseases: In bleeding disorders, liver disease, there is a chance of increase in the risk of bleeding.

 

Contraindications:

  • Allergy
  • Central nervous system bleeding
  • Bleeding disorder
  • Gastrointestinal disorders

Warnings:

  1. Bleeding
  2. Tissue Necrosis
  3. Calciphylaxis: Warfarin may cause a rare reaction called calciphylaxis in which calcium is accumulated in small blood vessels of the fat and skin tissues.
  4. Pregnancy: Not recommended for use in pregnant women except in lifethreatening.
  5. Lactation: This medicine is recommended for use in breastfeeding women only if clearly needed.
  6. Safety with alcohol: Not recommended due to an increase in the risk of bleeding.

 

General Instructions:

  • Take warfarin as advised by the doctor.
  • Do not consume larger quantities than prescribed.

Storage Conditions:

  • Keep warfarin at room temperature from 59°F (15°C) and 86°F (30°C).
  • Don't store this medication in moist or damp areas, such as bathrooms.
